A suspected drunk driver in a speeding Audi mowed down several pedestrians at a roadside stall in the Indian city of Jaipur on Friday night.
According to police, the vehicle was allegedly racing with another car when it struck a road divider and rammed into a row of food stalls. Eyewitness accounts state that several people were crushed under the vehicle; one person was killed, four remain in critical condition, and 11 others sustained minor injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Bhairwa, who worked as a server at one of the stalls.
Investigations revealed that the driver, identified as Jaipur businessman Dinesh Rinwa, reportedly fled the scene on foot with two other occupants immediately after the crash. A fourth individual was apprehended by local residents and handed over to the police. Authorities stated that the occupants were allegedly intoxicated at the time of the fatal incident.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed his grief over the tragedy and confirmed that the injured are receiving prompt medical treatment.
