Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) president and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa met World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) president Witold Bańka, in the presence of senior sports officials.
Shaikh Khalid underscored Bahrain’s strong commitment to supporting international efforts to uphold integrity, transparency and fair play in sport, stressing the importance of close co-operation with WADA to protect athletes’ health and reinforce clean sport principles.
He also commended WADA’s leading global role and affirmed Bahrain’s pride in its partnerships with international sports bodies, as well as its readiness to host major global sporting meetings, reflecting the kingdom’s growing standing in the international sports arena.
Following the meeting, the two sides signed a co-operation agreement under which Bahrain will host meetings of WADA’s Athletes’ Council, Executive Committee and Foundation Board from November 24 to 26, in co-ordination with the Bahrain National Anti-Doping Organisation (B-NADO). The agreement demonstrates international confidence in Bahrain’s organisational capabilities.
Mr Bańka expressed his appreciation for the warm reception, noting that the agreement reflects the depth of co-operation between WADA and Bahrain. He praised the kingdom’s experience in hosting international events and voiced confidence in the success of the upcoming meetings, emphasising that the partnership supports WADA’s mission to safeguard the integrity of sport worldwide.
