Oil and Environment Minister and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs Dr Mohammed Bin Daina received Ann Ganzer, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary (PDAS) in the Bureau of Arms Control and Nonproliferation at the United States Department of State.
The meeting highlighted the strategic partnership between Bahrain and the US, particularly in areas related to advanced technology and the peaceful, secure application of nuclear energy.
Both sides also discussed Bahrain’s co-operation with the Foundational Infrastructure for the Responsible Use of Small Modular Reactor Technology (FIRST) programme, which supports the development of the institutional and technical foundations needed to explore nuclear energy as a potential source of clean, reliable baseload power, in line with national energy priorities and environmental commitments.
Ms Ganzer praised Bahrain’s initiatives in this field, affirming the US’s continued support for co-operation that enhances the safe and responsible use of modern technologies and contributes to the kingdom’s development and climate goals.
