Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad, the preliminary qualifying rounds of the 30th Bahrain Holy Quran Grand Prize commenced.
The contest has been organised by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry at the Al Fateh Islamic Centre for males and the Qera’at Institute and Preparation of Holy Quran Teachers for females.
Assistant Under-Secretary for Islamic Affairs at the ministry, Judge Shaikh Omar bin Duaij bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, said that 775 contestants advanced to the preliminary qualifiers, including 336 males and 439 females, from a total of 5,033 participants in this edition.
He noted that total participation in the prize since its launch has exceeded 50,000 contestants, reflecting its strong standing and wide community engagement at the national level.
Shaikh Omar highlighted that the Bahrain Holy Quran Grand Prize is among the kingdom’s leading national initiatives serving the Holy Quran, contributing over more than three decades to preparing distinguished memorisers who have represented Bahrain in international Quranic forums.
He added that the award has seen notable development in recent years, including full digitalisation of registration, participation and evaluation processes, expansion of its categories to include different segments of society, and the application of precise judging standards to ensure transparency and fairness.
