FOOTBALL – AL Shabab and Bahrain Club both advanced to the quarter-finals last night of the 2025-26 His Majesty the King’s Cup – Bahrain’s richest annual football tournament.
Al Shabab edged past Malkiya 2-1 with a late Daniel Omokhoa goal, while Bahrain Club beat Hidd 1-0.
Omokhoa was on target for Shabab in the second minute of second-half injury time to lift his side. Khaled Ahmed had put Malkiya in front in the eighth minute but Abdulrahman Ali levelled the score for Shabab in the 27th.
Shabab marched through to the elite eight where they will next face the victor of the game between reigning Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League champions Muharraq and Isa Town.
In Bahrain Club’s triumph, Sultan Mansoor scored the game’s lone goal in the 47th minute. The winners move on to face off with the winner of the other round-of-16 fixture between Riffa and Manama.
Action in the single-elimination tournament continues today with Muharraq facing Isa Town and Riffa taking on Manama. Tomorrow, HM the King’s Cup holders Al Khaldiya face Al Hala while Sitra take on Al Ittifaq. Then, on Thursday, Al Ahli face Budaiya and Al Najma take on A’ali.
All remaining fixtures are scheduled for 7pm kick-offs at different venues.
Khaldiya won last season’s HM the King’s Cup after edging past Sitra 3-2 in the tournament final, played in April earlier this year.
