The new elective course book, Gaming 100, has been officially launched by Education Minister Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma at a gala ceremony at the Education Ministry Hall in Isa Town.
The course, in English, is set for secondary school students starting tomorrow.
Dr Juma confirmed that Gaming 100 will be offered as an elective in government high schools, with private schools also able to adopt it as part of their curriculum.
The new course focuses on the evolution of video games starting with Atari, advancements in the gaming industry, programming video games, besides highlighting potential game programming careers.
"So far 1,300 government students have enrolled for the elective," said Dr Juma.
