The Interior Ministry announced that the smart camera system operated by the General Directorate of Traffic has officially begun operations and, to date, has recorded various violations.
These include using a mobile phone while driving and failing to wear a seat belt, following the announcement of the launch of the first phase of the system, after ensuring the technical infrastructure is ready and can operate efficiently under different conditions.
The General Directorate of Traffic noted that, in order to ensure the timely delivery of traffic notifications, including those related to vehicle registration dates, driving licence renewals, as well as recorded violations, all motorists are required to regularly update their personal details via the “MyGov” application, to avoid the accumulation of violations without their knowledge.
The General Directorate of Traffic also stressed the importance of adhering to traffic laws and regulations, avoiding incorrect driving behaviours, and exercising responsibility and traffic awareness.
