Two motorists were taken to the hospital in connection with the incident, local authorities said.
The pilot and the co-pilot onboard the plane were uninjured.
The pilot reportedly landed the plane shortly after takeoff from Gainesville Regional Airport when the aircraft experienced major mechanical failures.
Investigators say the plane did not have enough power to return to the airport and was forced to land.
