A ten-month-old baby girl, who tragically lost all brain function following a fatal car accident, has become the youngest organ donor in the Indian state of Kerala.
Alin Sherin Abraham, the only daughter of Arun Abraham and Sherin Ann John, was declared brain-dead after sustaining serious injuries in a road accident in Kottayam on February 5. With her parents’ consent, six of her organs, including her liver, both kidneys, heart valves, and eyes, were donated.
The organs were transported to Thiruvananthapuram on February 13 under a tight police escort. Authorities imposed traffic restrictions along the route to create a "green corridor," ensuring the ambulance had swift and uninterrupted passage.
The family’s selfless decision has given two young children a new lease of life: a six-month-old received a liver transplant, while a ten-year-old underwent a kidney transplant. The infant was laid to rest with state honours on Sunday, as social media users across the country praised her parents’ profound act of compassion.
