PROMINENT businessman Nabeel Khalid Kanoo has announced the formation of a unified electoral bloc, ‘Istidama’ (sustainability), ahead of the 31st elections of the Bahrain Chamber, describing the move as a milestone that reflects the growing cohesion of the kingdom’s business community and its commitment to placing national interests first.
Mr Kanoo said the bloc was the result of extensive consultations and dialogue among private sector stakeholders, which helped align visions and pool efforts under a comprehensive electoral platform.
The initiative, he noted, seeks to reinforce the Chamber’s role as an inclusive umbrella representing traders and enterprises of all sizes and sectors.
He stressed that current local and regional economic developments require closer co-ordination between the private sector and the executive and legislative branches, adding that a unified business front is essential to converting challenges into tangible growth opportunities.
Mr Kanoo emphasised that Istidama is not a short-term electoral alliance but a long-term economic vision focused on sustaining growth, empowering small and medium-sized enterprises, strengthening purchasing power, and expanding opportunities for entrepreneurs and young Bahrainis.
He added that the bloc would present practical, carefully developed programmes aimed at improving the business environment, streamlining procedures and fostering innovation.
