GCC ambassadors and their counterparts from the European Union met the French President’s Adviser for the Middle East and North Africa Affairs, Dora Cattuti, to discuss recent developments in the region and to enhance frameworks of co-operation.
The GCC side was lead by Bahrain’s Ambassador to France Essam Abdulaziz Al Jassim, while the European side was chaired by Cyprus’ Ambassador to France Pavlos Kombos, whose country currently holds the Presidency of the European Union Council.
Ambassador Al Jassim underscored the importance of the strategic partnership between the Gulf Arab states and the EU, which serves shared interests and supports international peace and security.
He highlighted the need to enhance dialogue and co-operation in the areas of regional security, protection of maritime routes, energy security and addressing various threats.
He reaffirmed Bahrain’s condemnation of Iranian attacks that targeted the kingdom and other GCC states, which constitute a serious threat to the security and stability of the region.
