National Security Adviser and Royal Guard Commander Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa received US Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Michael Waltz.
Deputy National Security Adviser Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Jaber Al Khalifa was present.
Shaikh Nasser affirmed the importance of continuing to strengthen international co-operation and intensifying joint efforts to address current challenges, to consolidate security and stability and support sustainable development at both regional and international levels. He explained that the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA) between Bahrain and the US is an important pillar to build upon and enhance co-operation and co-ordination.
The two sides reviewed the co-operation between Bahrain and the US, discussed topics of mutual interest, and exchanged views on regional and international developments. They also emphasised the importance of continuing co-ordination and consultation on various issues of mutual interest.
Ambassador Waltz also met Bahraini media representatives and affirmed the strength of strategic partnership between the US and Bahrain, stressing US support for Bahrain in addressing security challenges and promoting regional stability.
Ambassador Waltz praised the high level of bilateral defence and military co-operation, underscoring the long-standing and solid ties between both countries. He commended the efficiency and professionalism of the Bahrain Defence Force, stating that more than 90 per cent of the missiles and drones launched by Iran towards Bahrain had been successfully intercepted and neutralised.
This demonstrates the readiness and high efficiency of the kingdom’s armed forces in protecting the country’s airspace and vital infrastructure, he said.
