Supreme Council for Women (SCW) member Dalal Al Zayed took part in a roundtable on challenges in enforcing child custody and visitation rulings, organised by the Public Prosecution in co-operation with the Social Development Ministry and the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute.
Attorney General Dr Ali bin Fadhel Al Buainain, Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Nawaf Al Maawda, Social Development Minister Osama Al Alawi as well as judges and public prosecutors attended.
The discussion aimed to examined legal and practical challenges in implementing custody and visitation rulings while safeguarding the best interests of the child.
Ms Al Zayed reviewed Bahrain’s legal framework governing custody and visitation, highlighting the Family Law and the mechanisms for enforcing related court rulings.
She noted that facilitating court-ordered visitation through social centres was among the Supreme Council for Women’s early initiatives, launched under the directives of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and SCW president, in partnership with the relevant authorities.
Ms Al Zayed emphasised the need to strengthen public awareness of the importance of complying with court rulings and to highlight the legal, social and psychological consequences of obstructing their enforcement.
