FOOTBALL – THE Bahrain Football Association (BFA) concluded its 2026 referees’ training course. The week-long programme included theoretical lectures and practical applications. Lecturers included BFA referees committee members Ebrahim Sabt and Salah Al Abbasi, BFA refereeing technical advisor Nawaf Shukrallah BFA referee's department head Yasser Talafat, and international referees Ammar Mahfouz and Ismail Habib.
The course covered laws of the game and presented various refereeing scenarios in an educational and informative visual format. BFA referees committee head Ali Al Samaheeji affirmed that the course aimed to contribute to the development of promising referees for the future.
This is especially important given the BFA’s developmental vision, spearheaded by BFA president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and BFA vice-president Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Isa Al Khalifa. Al Samaheeji praised the significant support the BFA referees committee receives from the BFA board and BFA secretary general Rashed Alzaabi. He also noted the plan of increasing the number of referees to keep pace with local competitions, adding that another course for new female referees will be held in the near future. At the conclusion of the course, Al Samaheeji presented certificates of participation to all who took part.
