A footballer has been killed and 12 others injured after lightning struck during a match in Thailand.
Safwan Awae, 24, was struck by a lightning bolt and tragically killed when a heavy monsoon storm hit the match in Thailand’s southern Narathiwat province on Tuesday evening.

Video footage showed the lightning striking the pitch adjacent to where players were running, followed by a flash of flame at the base of a plume of smoke.
Spectators rushed to attempt resuscitation after Awae collapsed on the pitch.
Emergency services provided immediate medical treatment before transporting him to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities confirmed that 12 others suffered burns in the strike, including a 22-year-old Malaysian national.
