His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy of His Majesty the King and Crown Prince, may God protect him, affirmed that responsible national discourse represents strength and steadfastness in facing challenges, given its role in conveying facts, enhancing societal awareness, consolidating trust in national sources, and safeguarding the homeland and its resources. His Highness pointed out that the Bahraini press is an integral partner in the process of building and development, and that the Kingdom of Bahrain is rich in distinguished national journalistic talents who continue, as part of Team Bahrain, to contribute to consolidating the Kingdom's position and enhancing its developmental gains, with distinguished contributions to the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the country, may God protect and preserve him.
This came during His Highness’s patronage of the tenth session of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism, in the presence of a number of Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and other high-ranking officials, and a select group of journalists and media professionals from within and outside the Kingdom. His Highness affirmed that the award, since its inception, has contributed to establishing a culture of excellence and creativity, highlighting national media talents and competencies, and motivating them to continue giving in a way that enhances the status and leadership of Bahraini journalism.
His Highness praised the national competencies in the press and media sectors, and the sincere national efforts they made in serving the nation and in confronting the heinous Iranian attacks on the Kingdom of Bahrain, stressing his pride in the national media, which was a reliable source of information, and contributed professionally and responsibly to conveying the facts, supporting government measures, enhancing community awareness, and consolidating the values of national responsibility, praising the honourable national positions embodied by Bahraini journalists and writers in defending the homeland, and keeping pace with various challenges with efficiency and competence.
Following this, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, Deputy to His Majesty the King, honoured the winners of the 2026 Prime Minister's Award for Journalism.
Professor Mounis Al-Mardi won the Journalist of the Year award; Khalil Ibrahim Al-Thawadi from Al-Ayyam newspaper and Muhammad Juma Al-Muhamid from Akhbar Al-Khaleej newspaper shared the Best Opinion Column award; Shaima Abdulkarim Hussein from Al-Bilad newspaper won the Best Investigative Report award; Faisal Mohammed Al-Ali, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Watan newspaper, won the Best Specialised Supplement award for his "Year of Isa the Great" supplement; Rashid Nabil Al-Hamar, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Ayyam newspaper, won the Best Interview award; Mohammed Abdulrahman Al-Mulla from the Bahrain News Agency won the Best Press Photo award; Mohammed Abdulredha Bahr from Al-Ayyam newspaper won the Best Visual Content award; Omar Abdul Salam Al-Kaabneh from Al-Bilad newspaper won the Best Infographic award; and Hudhaifa Ibrahim Al-Dabou from Al-Bilad newspaper won the Best News Website or Account for a Media Organisation award.
The Best Student Journalism Project award was shared by Nariman Mohammed Al-Dulaimi from Ahlia University and Mohammed Hashim Saeed from Bahrain Polytechnic, and student Ahmed Rashid Al-Hali from the University of Bahrain.
His Highness congratulated the winners, wishing them continued success and creativity in a way that contributes to the advancement of journalistic and media work, and enhances the progress and prosperity of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
For his part, His Excellency Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Minister of Information, expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the country, may God protect him, for the attention and care that His Majesty gives to the national press. He also expressed his deepest thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy of His Majesty the King and Crown Prince, may God protect him, for His Highness’s patronage of the ceremony, which coincides with the tenth anniversary of the launch of the award, stressing that this occasion embodies the leading position that the award has achieved in honouring journalistic excellence and encouraging creativity, in light of the continuous support that it enjoys from His Highness.
His Excellency the Minister of Information also congratulated the winners of the award, stressing that this honour represents an incentive to continue giving and creating, enhancing professional competition, and contributing to the development of journalistic work in line with the development and progress witnessed by the Kingdom of Bahrain.
For their part, the winners of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism expressed their deep gratitude and appreciation to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, may God protect him, for his continuous support and care for the media sector and its members, stressing that the award represents a badge of honour and an incentive to continue giving and creating, serving the nation and elevating its media message with professionalism and responsibility.
