A Porter Airlines flight from British Columbia to Toronto was cancelled and rescheduled after a child refused to sit down and fasten their seat belt.
Flight PD444 was forced to turn back as a safety precaution after taxying towards the runway. A young child standing on their seat refused to put on their seat belt, despite repeated attempts by their parent and cabin crew to secure them.
The situation was deemed unsafe by flight attendants, who decided to return to the terminal to disembark the passengers.
A spokesperson for Porter Airlines explained that the time needed to bridge the aircraft, offload the child and parent, retrieve their luggage, and refile flight paperwork meant the flight would exceed operational deadlines. The flight was rescheduled to depart the following afternoon.
