BASKETBALL – BAHRAIN’S youth men’s basketball national team delegation have departed for Ahmedabad, India, where they will compete amongst a high-quality, 16-nation field in the Fiba U18 Asia Cup. The kingdom’s delegation is headed by Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) board member and BBA financial secretary Mohammed Abdulsamad.
The Bahrainis have a 12-player squad for the competition, coached by veteran Bahraini tactician Salman Ramadhan. Bahrain head into the tournament as reigning Arab and Gulf champions in their age group. They will be competing in Group B for the preliminary round, where they will take on Lebanon in their opening assignment on August 13 before going up against New Zealand on August 15.
The nationals then play their concluding pool fixture against Syria on August 17. Group A features defending champions Australia, Chinese Taipei, the Philippines, and Thailand. Group C is composed of China, Iran, Qatar, and Sri Lanka. Group D includes South Korea, Japan, India, and Kazakhstan.
