A farmer in India's Rajasthan state was left devastated after discovering that cash he had buried for safekeeping was destroyed by termites.
Mangilal Meghwal hid ₹500,000 (approximately BD2,000), proceeds from a land sale a year ago, fearing the money would be stolen or spent unnecessarily by his family.
लेकिन पैसे नहीं मिले.… pic.twitter.com/Sxu47QvLWh

Meghwal subsequently forgot where he had buried the cash before disclosing the secret to his family, who searched the field to no avail.
The cash resurfaced a year later when his family noticed a plastic bag while preparing the field for the sowing season.
However, their relief was short-lived after discovering that the notes had been severely damaged by termites and torn to shreds.
The family approached a local bank hoping to exchange the damaged notes, but were turned away due to their condition.
