The Board of Directors of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) held its third regular meeting of 2026, chaired by Tourism Minister and BTEA Board of Directors chairoeman Fatima Al Sairafi.
BTEA CEO Sarah Ahmed Buhiji was also present.
The minister underscored the importance of continuing to implement plans and initiatives aimed at supporting the growth of the tourism sector and strengthening partnerships with the private sector, while further developing high-quality projects and initiatives that contribute to consolidating Bahrain’s position as a leading tourist destination and support economic development objectives.
The Board members reviewed tourism sector performance indicators for the second quarter of 2026 and the sector’s development priorities, as well as initiatives and measures aimed at enhancing its resilience and sustaining its growth.
They also reviewed the key outcomes of BTEA’s marketing and promotional efforts to strengthen Bahrain’s position as a regional and international tourist destination, attract more visitors and support the sector’s growth.
The Board discussed the events calendar for the coming period, including a diverse range of programmes and activities, and followed up on the latest developments concerning the authority’s strategic projects.
It also reviewed efforts to develop the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism sector and further strengthen the kingdom’s position in this vital field.
The Board further reviewed the latest developments at Exhibition World Bahrain, including ongoing efforts to attract and host major events, exhibitions and conferences.
