BEACH SOCCER – Al Ettifaq were crowned champions of the Bahrain Football Association (BFA) Beach Soccer League 2026.
Ettifaq secured the coveted title following a crushing 8-1 victory over Al Ma’ameer in the tournament final, played at the BFA’s beach soccer pitches at Isa Sports City in Riffa.
The result wrapped up a sensational campaign for Ettifaq in the six-team competition.
They had earlier advanced to the title-decider after eking past Muharraq Youth Centre 7-6 in a penalty shootout that decided their semi-final, which remained deadlocked at 4-4 at the end of regulation.
Ma’ameer, on the other hand, beat Saddad Youth Centre 5-4 in another tightly contested affair in the last four.
Attending the final and crowning Ettifaq as league champions was BFA board member and competitions committee chairman Nayef Al Majed.
He handed out the champions’ trophy and gold medals, while Ettifaq also came away with $1,000 in prize money.
Also on hand at the awards presentation and closing ceremony were BFA beach soccer committee head Ahmed Al Amer and representatives from the competition’s sponsors.
During the post-final formalities, a number of individual awards were handed out, with Ettifaq’s Salman Khaled Al Yaqoobi taking home the league’s top scorer trophy.
Ma’ameer’s Mohammed Abdulla Ali was honoured as the competition’s best player, Delta Team goalkeeper Saif Abdulsattar won the award for best goalkeeper, and Saddad’s Hussain Ali Aqeel Juma was awarded as the most promising player.
An ideal team trophy was also presented to Muharraq.
In this year’s beach soccer league, Ettifaq, Ma’ameer, Muharraq, Saddad, and Delta were joined by Malkiya Club.
They played a single round-robin in the preliminary stage, which ended with the top four marching through to the semis.
Muharraq topped the table after their five fixtures in preliminaries with nine points, followed by Saddad and Ma’ameer in second and third, respectively, also on nine points apiece.
Muharraq held the superior goal difference amongst all three sides.
Ettifaq squeezed into the final four with eight points, while Delta finished fifth with seven and Malkiya were last with zero points.
