His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa affirmed that young people do not wait for others to chart their path, but look to those who believe in their ability to forge their own future.
In a statement marking International Youth Day, observed on August 12, he stressed that trust in young people is the foundation for future achievements, noting that nations that empower their youth to take the initiative build stronger and more sustainable futures.
This year’s theme is ‘Different Contexts, Common Aspirations’.
Shaikh Nasser said that, under the leadership of His Majesty, Bahrain chose years ago to make young people partners in decision-making and in shaping the future.
He added that this approach has received the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, strengthening the integration of national efforts to create an environment that enables young people to participate, assume responsibility and contribute to various development paths.
SCYS first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa affirmed that International Youth Day is an occasion to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Bahraini youth across various fields, as well as their ability to innovate, create and assume responsibility.
He noted that Bahraini youth have become an exemplary presence across various fields, stressing that their achievements reflect the national talent the kingdom possesses, adding that the sports sector accounts for a significant share of these achievements, with Bahraini athletes continuing to record outstanding results across various sports.
Youth Affairs Minister Rawan Tawfiqi said young people’s journeys are shaped by accumulated experiences, knowledge and achievements, as well as willingness to learn from every experience.
She congratulated Bahrain’s youth and expressed pride in their ambition, passion for learning and determination to achieve further accomplishments.
