Bhavans Bahrain Indian School (BIS) has secured the prestigious ‘Outstanding’ rating and the coveted Golden Seal of Recognition from the Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA).
This milestone marks a decade of expansion for the institution, which has grown from 33 students in 2014 into one of the kingdom’s elite educational hubs.
By achieving the highest classification under Bahrain’s national quality framework, BIS has made history as the fastest CBSE-affiliated school in the kingdom.
School directors Himanshu Verma and Ritu Verma have driven this growth through continuous teacher development, innovative pedagogy, and the integration of core ethical values.
This strategic approach is reflected in a flawless academic record, with the school maintaining a 100 per cent pass rate and First Division placement across all graduating cohorts since its pioneering Grade X class of 2020-21 and Grade XII class of 2022-23.
BIS has surpassed international assessment benchmarks. In the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 2023, the institution achieved the elite Advanced Level designation across both Grade 4 and Grade 8. Grade 4 pupils outpaced local and global averages by scoring 626 in Mathematics (versus the national 462 and international 503 averages) and 642 in Science (versus the national 475 and international 494 averages).
Additionally, BIS stands as the only school in Bahrain to attain the Advanced Band in the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) 2021, scoring 630. These milestones were formally recognised by the Education Ministry and personally commended by Education Minister Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma.
The school’s competitive academic framework was further cemented by impressive rankings in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains. Pupil Ishan Pande carved out a singular distinction as the sole candidate from Bahrain to qualify for both the JEE Main and JEE Advanced examinations this year.

Pupils regularly qualify for the World Scholar’s Cup Tournament of Champions at Yale University and excel across international arts, literature, coding, and technology events. Notably, BIS secured five of Bahrain’s seven places in the Science India Forum’s prestigious Sastrayaan quest.
