His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, yesterday met officials to review the progress on the ongoing implementation of the Muharraq City Development Plan and the redevelopment plan for the historical Manama Suq area, at Gudaibiya Palace.
He affirmed the commitment to following up on the implementation of the Royal Order of His Majesty King Hamad to preserve the historical and cultural identity of Bahrain’s buildings and cities, and to launch a comprehensive plan to restore Isa Al Kabeer Palace and the neighbourhoods of Muharraq, as well as redevelop the historical area of Manama Suq, helping to preserve the area’s unique history and cultural identity.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister noted the rich history and unique cultural identity of the cities of Muharraq and Manama, and the heritage landmarks they encompass that are associated with significant milestones in Bahraini history.
HRH Prince Salman highlighted the importance of further developing both cities while preserving their historical and cultural identity, in a way that safeguards their heritage and strengthens their standing as enduring symbols of Bahrain’s history.
He reviewed the latest developments in the implementation of the Muharraq City Development Plan and the redevelopment of the historical area of Manama Suq. In this regard, HRH Prince Salman emphasised the importance of sustaining efforts to achieve the development objectives for both areas.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister stressed the critical role of co-ordination among the various entities and accelerating the implementation of projects to achieve the desired objectives.
HRH Prince Salman also highlighted the importance of preserving cultural and heritage landmarks alongside development efforts, ensuring a balance between maintaining the historical identity of the targeted areas and meeting development requirements.
He noted that the historical and cultural heritage of Bahrain’s cities and regions forms an integral part of the kingdom’s national identity, emphasising the importance of preserving and showcasing this heritage and strengthening its presence for generations to come, in a way that reflects the kingdom’s historical identity.
Prime Minister’s Court Minister Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and senior officials also attended the meeting.
