Veolia, a global resource management leader, has been awarded a contract by Dubai Municipality (DM) to engineer, procure and provide construction services to set up a hazardous liquid waste treatment plant.
The agreement is a first of its kind in UAE, and aims to make Dubai ready for the anticipated increase in the quantity of hazardous liquid waste, as existing industries expand and new ones are set up.
Thierry Froment, chief operating officer for Veolia Water Technologies in the Middle East, said: “Managing waste is a significant issue in today’s times, not just in the UAE, but across the world. The plant is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2017 and will be able to treat 200 cu m per shift (3 shifts/ day) of hazardous liquid waste, including acidic waste, alkaline waste, oily waste and wastewater.
