Manama: Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who graduated from King’s College London yesterday, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree with honours in War Studies, is the second son of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.
Born on November 11, 1991, Shaikh Mohammed completed his primary education from Ibn Khuldoon National School and went on to graduate from the Bahrain School in 2009.
He then joined the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst as an officer cadet on June 9, 2010.
He has been awarded the Prince Saud bin Abdullah’s Prize for Academic Excellence and the Communication and Applied Behavioural Science Prize.
On April 15, 2010, His Majesty King Hamad, the Supreme Commander of the Bahrain Defence Force, commissioned Shaikh Mohammed as a Second Lieutenant in the BDF.
He then trained for one year with the British Army, serving in Her Majesty the Queen’s Royal Lancer’s Brigade, before joining the BDF Royal Armory Unit.
On May 9 this year he was promoted to Lieutenant and received the Order of Magnanimity.
Shaikh Mohammed is now focused on work which preserves the cultural and historical heritage of Bahrain.
He is an accomplished horseman and marksman
and also enjoys reading and swimming.
