Acico Industries, one of the largest business groups in Kuwait, said it has achieved a key milestone by completing a major mixed-use development project, comprising residential, social, infrastructure and commercial areas, in Kuwait City ahead of schedule.
The new development boasts rows upon rows of vertical apartment buildings along grand avenues and streets of the new Kuwait City residential area.
For this new large challenge, Acico worked together with top expertise architects especially for developing the master plan for the new part of the city.
The work could be completed with super speed and effectiveness largely because of high quality precast concrete being produced by Acico at one of the country's largest precast concrete plants built next to Kuwait City.
The flagship factory for the precast industry was set up in co-ordination with leading precast consultant and international manufacturing expert Marcantonini Concrete Technology from Italy.
Marcantonini equipped the batching plant with double mixer associated with automatic concrete distribution system thus enabling it to supply concrete for the production of sandwich, battery mould and hollow core. The plant now guarantees a concrete production of 100 cu m per hour during the peak time, it stated.
With the main contractor determined to finish the project at a rapid pace, Acico adopted a building system allowing fast erection phase along with consistently high quality elements to ensure accurate, quick built structures - industrialised precast.
An automatic pigment colour dosing system ensures also the possibility to cast coloured concrete for the top layer in case it is required. Rapid, reliable and fast delivery is carried out by the latest version of Marcantonini Concrete Technology flying buckets: 240 m per minute is the speed achievable, it stated.
Acico pointed out that the apartments tower rise and the social infrastructures was setting the scene for the next developing decades.
"To achieve such great progress in a relatively short time, Acico undertook the greatest instance of industrialized precast production facility ever realized in the country," said a company spokesman.
Established in 1990, the Kuwaiti group has served a wide range of industries through its five subsidiaries including Acico Construction, thus generating an annual operating income of over KD100 million ($330 million).
According to Acico, the plant produces all the necessary structural components for the civil buildings, such as hollow core slabs, main and boundary walls, sandwich and stairs.
Marcantonini Concrete Technology said it was renowned for the supply of customised precast mixing plant and concrete distribution system all over the Middle East region.
"I believe that our fully customized plants are leading the precast industry in terms of achieving high production output and minimising the workforce," stated Falchetti Gabriele, the sales director for the Middle East region.
"We have noted a general Middle East market contraction mainly due to the oil slump, but, thanks to our growing sales network, we are able to maintain stable revenue for the area. In 2017 we will deliver precast plants to Egypt, UAE and Saudi Arabia," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
