Makkah - The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque elevated the lower part of the Holy Kaaba's Kiswa (black cover) by 3 meters in preparations for this year's Hajj season 1446 AH.
The process involves dismantling the lower parts, separating the corners, raising the Kiswa, and fixing it at a height of 3 meters. The raised portion is then covered with a two-meter-wide white cotton cloth on all sides, and the lamps are returned to their places.
This annual procedure is part of preserving the Kiswa and protecting it from touch or damage, especially during the intensive circumambulation in close proximity to the Holy Kaaba during the Hajj season.
The raising process was carried out by specialized teams, according to precise procedures that take into account the sanctity of the place and with the highest standards of safety and professionalism. This is an annual custom, reflecting the accurate organization and comprehensive preparations for receiving pilgrims.
This step is part of a series of extensive preparations undertaken by the relevant authorities to ensure the comfort and safety of pilgrims and to create a spiritual atmosphere for performing the rituals with ease and tranquility.
