BAHRAIN’S beach soccer national team has left today for Doha to play two friendly matches against Qatar.
The first game is expected to take place today, while the second will be held tomorrow with the team returning to the Kingdom tomorrow night.
The team delegation includes team manager Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, team coach Joao Almeida, assistant coach Mahmoud Al Ghawi, team administrator Bassem Mohammed, physiotherapist Abdulla Arafa and 12 players, namely: Sayed Hameed Sabt, Ahmed Abdulrasool, Mohammed Ashoor, Salman Sileem, Hisham Yousif, Nawaz Abdulsatar, Ibrahim Marhoon, Abbas Al Fadel, Abdulla Abdellatif, Mohammed Abdulla, Rashed Jamal and Abdilla Al Malky.
Shaikh Abdulla highlighted the importance of the two friendly matches which will allow coach Almeida to have a closer look at his players’ performances before the Asian Cup Championship which will take place in Malaysia in March.
Bahrain has stepped up their preparations for the Asian Cup Championship, which will see them participate in Goup ‘A’ alongside hosts Malaysia, China, Iran and Afghanistan.
The competition consists of three groups, with the top-ranked team of each group qualifying for the World Beach Soccer Championship in Bahamas in April.
