Cairo: Egyptian actress Donia Samir Ghanem has been appointed as a Unicef goodwill ambassador.
The Cairo-based branch of the Unicef announced the selection of the star, who will support child-related and humanitarian causes in the Middle East.
A ceremony will be held in Cairo on February 13 to officially make the announcement. She joins ten other Arab celebrities who were named as UN Goodwill Ambassadors.
These include Egyptian comedian Adel Imam (UNHCR), Palestinian singer Mohammad Assaf (UNRWA), Iraqi singer Kathem al-Saher (UNICEF), Algerian singer Cheb Khaled (FAO), and Lebanese singers Magida Al Roumi (FAO) and Nancy Ajram (UNICEF).
Donia is the daughter of actor Samir Youssef Ghanem and actress Dalal Abdulaziz. She made her debut in 2001 at the age of 16, on the TV show 'Justice has many faces'.
