An $8.8million necklace that belonged to Elizabeth Taylor is at the centre of a lengthy legal battle after the Hollywood icon's estate accused Christie's auction house of botching the sale reported English newspaper The Daily Mail.
The diamond and ruby necklace - known as the 'Taj Mahal' - was famously given to the actress as a 40th birthday gift in 1972 by her then-husband Richard Burton.
A new lawsuit filed in Manhattan's Supreme Court on Thursday by Taylor's estate has accused the auction house of falsely advertising the pendant when it was up for sale as once belonging to the Indian emperor behind the creation of the Taj Mahal, Page Six reports.
Christie's sold the heart-shaped pendant to an anonymous VIP buyer for a whopping $8.8million at an auction of the legendary star's jewellery collection in New York in 2011 - the same year she died.
The auction house then gave Taylor's estate the proceeds of the sale.
