Dubai: Dubai last night succeeded in entering the Guinness Book of World Record, staging the biggest laser light and sound show on one single building.
The Light Up 2018 covered 109252 square metres, which enabled Dubai to smash the record which was set by Hong Kong in 2013 with a laser and sound show covering 46,641 sqm on the 484 metre-high International Commerce Centre (ICC) skyscraper in West Kowloon.
Emaar Properties said that more than 1 million visitors from all over the world had converged on Dubai to attend New Year festivities, while 2.5 billion people watched the dazzling event on TV channels and social media websites.
Laser, acoustic equipment and other accessories weighing more than 118.44 tons were used for the breathtaking show which was prepared by 300 experts and 100 workers over five months.
