Muscat: The new Muscat International Airport will be inaugurated officially within the coming few days, said a top civil aviation official.
“The experimental operations of the new airport have exceeded 75 per cent overall, with just 11 operations pending”, said Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser Al-Zaabi
In a statement reported by Oman Daily, he revealed that the overall cost of the massive air transportation project had topped OMR1.7 billion.
A total of 6,200 volunteers took part in the experimental operations, handling more than 55,000 suitcases and other luggage items.
The authorities have also simulated more than 500 departing or arriving flights to ensure the new airport is operational.
The giant Airbus A350-1000 has also landed at the new state-of-the-art Muscat International Airport as part of an international display tour.
