Dubai: Ten countries and 30 operators have been banned from using UAE air space over the lack of commitment to safety.
The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) confirmed that they carried out more than 300 inspections under the 'the national programme for safety assessment of foreign aircraft'.
The authority stated that such lists would remain valid until the commitment to standards imposed by the GCAA with regards to safety requirements is met.
According to a report in Emarat Al Youm, Director-General of the General Aviation Authority, Said Al Suwaidi said that the board reviewed the updated list that were based on inspections conducted by the aviation safety team, on each aircraft taken round the clock.
Assistant Director-General for Aviation Safety at the GCAA, Ismail Al Baluchi, said the main objective of the national programme is to ensure the safety of people living near airports and passengers on board aircraft.
He also added, “As well as to ensure the application of the laws of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), to limit the work of companies operating in a high-risk in the country.”
The GCAA has not made the list of countries and operators that are banned in UAE space.
