IT was another blank day yesterday for Bahrain at the 18th Asian Games.
In bowling, Bahrain finished 15th overall in the final classification. In taekwondo, Abdulla Alahmed was beaten in his opening match while in cycling Yahiaaldien Khalefa did not start his road race.
At the JSC Bowling Centre in Jakarta, Bahrain had two teams competing in the men’s trios event.
The first comprised of Yusuf Falah, Ahmed Alawadhi and Osama Hasan and they finished in 15th overall with a total of 4,027 pinfalls after two blocks of action.
The other Bahraini team featured Ahmed Algoud, Abdulla Ali and Omar Almudhahki and they ended 24th with a total of 3,799.
Japan were the gold-medallists with 4,344 pins. Malaysia claimed the silver with 4,235 and Singapore the brone with 4,226.
A total of 33 trios took part.

In taekwondo, Bahrain’s Alahmed was competing in the round of 16 in the men’s under-68kg category and faced Arven Alcantara of the Philippines, who won 44-11.
Alahmed was able to score three points in the first round and eight in the second whereas Alcantara already had 19 in the opener and then added another 25 in the second.
Bahrain cyclist Khalefa was set to take part in the men’s 150km individual road race but did not start. According to a team officials, he will now be competing in a different event in the next few days.
Action continues today for Bahrain in four sports in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang.
In the handball tournament, Bahrain take on Hong Kong in their last main round match at 10am Bahrain time.
The nationals have so far remained unbeaten in five matches, including their last two fixtures in the main round. They first beat Iran and then downed 2014 silver-medallists South Korea.
Bahrain currently top their group in the main round and have already booked their place in the semi-finals. They will be looking for another victory against Hong Kong to maintain their unbeaten record so far.
Also today, shooter Mahmood Haji will be contesting in he 300 metres standard rifle competition.
Elsewhere, Maitham Sabaa will be seen in action in the men jiu jitsu under-69kg category while sailor Abdulla Janahi will be racing in the Laser Standard class.
