UAE: Flights from Dubai to Mumbai have been delayed with around 100 Dubai-bound passengers believed to be stranded in Mumbai.
An Emirates flight EK500 returned back to Dubai after departure, passengers were booked on a replacement Boeing 777 aircraft or have been booked for a later flight.
SpiceJet and Indigo airlines have tweeted out to passengers that the flights were delayed and they will waive the cancellation/change fee, respectively.
Mumbai airport's main runway was closed since Monday after a Spicejet flight from Jaipur overshot the runway at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
The incident occurred when the flight SG-6237, a Boeing aircraft, arrived and landed around 11.51pm, as Mumbai was lashed by heavy rains.
Following the incident, flights have been delayed and according to Flightradar24 few flights to and from Mumbai have been cancelled.
Almost 534 flights have been diverted from Mumbai airport to other airports, due to the heavy rains.
