MANAMA: The Premier’s initiatives to promote global peace, tolerance and solidarity received high UN praise yesterday.
His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa received a written message from United Nations Alliance of Civilisations (UNAOC) High Representative Miguel Angel Moratinos in which he hailed his initiative adopted by the UN General Assembly which declared April 5 International Day of Conscience.
Mr Moratinos stressed the importance of the Premier’s initiative in bolstering the international community’s efforts to promote peace, tolerance, pluralism, understanding and solidarity. He praised the Premier for his initiatives that encourage amity, tolerance and compassion among people.
Mr Moratinos hailed the General Assembly’s adoption of the initiative under the clause “Culture of Peace” through Bahrain’s permanent mission to the UN in New York. He praised the objectives promoted by the initiative commensurate with basic values adopted by the UNAOC to build equalitarian, pluralistic and peaceful communities to achieve Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
He also expressed the aspiration to celebrate International Day of Conscience with Bahrain on April 5, as well as work with the kingdom in promoting the values of tolerance among people.
