Oman: Two key agreements worth OMR165.254 million were signed to undertake the expansion of the Rusayl-Bidbid road expansion and Batinah Expressway link projects.
The agreements were signed by Minister of Transport Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Salim al Futaisi, Minister of Transport, and representatives of Galfar Engineering and Ghantoot Transport and General Contracting.
The first agreement consists in the construction of two new lanes on the Rusayl Bidbid carriageway from Muscat Expressway interchange to Sharqiyah Expressway interchange, covering a distance of 27km under the contract worth OMR86,284,020.
The project, which is scheduled to be completed within 30 months, will boost the traffic flow on this vital road between Muscat, Dakhliyah and Sharqiyah governorates.
The OMR 78,970,735 second agreement which is part of the seventh batch of Batinah Expressway project will be ready within 36 months.
It provides for the construction of road links and flyovers at main roundabouts of the existing Batinah road, in addition to a road connecting Khazaen Business Zone to Batinah Expressway, a stretch of 14km.
