PEOPLE are being urged to get information only from official sources amid the spread of the coronavirus.
National Disaster Management Committee executive office head Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Al Binghadeer warned of the dangers of rumours circulating on social media.
“It is no secret to anyone the dangers of rumours spreading on social media and there is a chance that these rumours are even emanating from abroad,” he said during a Press briefing last night.
“However, it is comforting to us that the Bahraini society has already gone through a history of crisis and by the grace of God has survived and we will overcome these crises through our national unity.
“We are confident in the people but we urge them to only receive information from reliable official sources, and our information is being disseminated very transparently.”
Awareness campaigns are also being stepped up targeting the local and expatriate communities in Bahrain, with a website set to be launched containing latest information and statistics in order to reduce pressure on the dedicated hotline, 444.
