THE Bahrain Football Association (BFA) has drawn up a new format to complete the Nasser bin Hamad Premier League and League Two matches for the season 2019-20.
The BFA guidelines are based on Fifa taskforce’s report regarding the precautionary measures to combat the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
Players’ and coaches’ contracts are extended until the end of the 2019-2020 season with the same residual value from the original contract. A player or coach is not entitled to terminate his contract with the club or leave without the club’s approval during the 2019-2020 season’s extended period.
Clubs shall commit to paying the remaining value of the extended contracts until the date to be set for the end of the 2019-2020 season, starting from the preparation period to completing the remaining competitions until the end of the same season.
Guidelines
Under the guidelines, clubs are allowed to sign contracts with players and coaches for the 2020-2021 season. A player or coach is not entitled to move (transfer) except after completing their previous contractual obligations regarding the remaining matches of the 2019-2020 season.
The new contract takes effect from the start of the football season 2020-2021.
The parties to the contract shall negotiate with each other to reach a consensual agreement with possible solutions for the continuity of the contract.
These solutions may include postponing salaries or reducing them for a specific period. The agreement is drawn up as an appendix to the contract and the BFA shall be supplied with a copy.
Clubs which decide to either postpone or reduce salaries must ensure the basic minimum standard of living required for the other party.
Transfers will only be permitted during the registration periods announced by the Bahrain Football Association. Therefore, the federation will open the registration after the end of the 2019-2020 season. (Except for the final match on the King’s Cup (2019-2020 season) as the registration period for the new season will apply to it.
No exception, suspension or delay will be granted to any of the decisions issued by the Fifa Committees or the BFA.
Any dispute or disagreement arising from the application of this circular is finally resolved by the National Dispute Resolution Chamber or the Status and Transfer Committee of the players.
