Manama: The pivotal role played by Bahraini workers in guiding the nation towards progress and prosperity was praised to mark Labour Day.
Their diligence, hard work and dedication are reflected in the strides the kingdom has made over the years, said top officials yesterday.
Parliament chairman Ahmed Al Mulla affirmed the house’s keenness to respect the rights of workers and pensioners by enacting necessary
legislation.
In a message to mark International Workers Day today, he also highlighted the importance of stepping up efforts to increase production for the sake of Bahrain and its citizens amid the current economic challenges.
Affirming that the right of work is guaranteed by the Constitution, Mr Al Mulla said all labour institutions’ visions and proposals related to workers’ issues are always welcome. He also paid tribute to Bahrain’s work pioneers for their landmark contributions.
The Shura Council, in a statement congratulating Bahraini workers, also praised their contributions to the development witnessed by the kingdom.
It also reiterated its keenness to support labour rights by improving the legislative infrastructure that covers all aspects related to their work, including relations with their employers.
Meanwhile, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Khalid Almoayed underlined the importance of enhancing ties between government, workers and employers.
Affirming that human element is the most valuable resource and backbone of development, he stressed on providing a healthy work environment and offering all workers the opportunity to enhance their skills and play an effective role in the growth of the country.
