Manama: The newly-expanded warehouse of Global Logistics Services (GLS) at the Bahrain Logistics Zone (BLZ) in Hidd has been launched by Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Kamal Ahmed.
This follows a tour of the BLZ and the new facility by Mr Ahmed who was accompanied by Under-Secretary of Ports and Maritime Affairs Hassan Ali Al Majed.
The visit aimed to meet with tenant companies and follow up the needs of companies based in the BLZ.
During the visit, GLS chief executive Shaikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Khalifa and general manager Ali Al Jawaheri met the minister and expressed satisfaction with the facilities and services provided by the ministry in addition to Customs Affairs in facilitating official procedures.
A statement said GLS specialises in creating standardised warehouses, including air conditioned and thermal isolation warehouses which will allow companies to expand their warehousing activities and meet current market demands.
The BLZ is the only customs-free zone in Bahrain, and has been developed to provide logistical storage with well-designed space in accordance with international standards.
In addition to 24-hour security and customs services, the zone is strategically located close to the Salman Industrial Zone and Khalifa Bin Salman Port.
It is also easily accessible from Bahrain International Airport and the Saudi Causeway.
Major international logistics companies operate at the BLZ, serving regional and international markets, making it a regional trade hub.
