ROME: Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani yesterday stressed the importance of supporting efforts aimed at achieving peace in the region, and fulfilling the aspirations of its people for security, stability, in addition to holding talks to solve the Palestinian issue in accordance with the two-state solution and the resolutions of international legitimacy.
This came as Dr Al Zayani met his Israeli counterpart Yair Lapid, as part of his visit to Italy to take part in the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh.
The ministers reviewed aspects of co-operation and ways to develop bilateral ties to meet common aspirations within the framework of the Declaration of Support for Peace signed between the two countries, stressing the importance of supporting efforts aimed at achieving peace in the region, and fulfilling the aspirations of its people for security and stability, in addition to holding talks to solve the Palestinian issue in accordance with the two-state solution and the resolutions of international legitimacy.
Lapid stressed the importance of further developing bilateral relations for the benefit of both countries and people. He also affirmed Israel’s keenness to develop co-operation with Bahrain in various fields.
The meeting was attended by Under-Secretary for political affairs Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and Bahrain’s Ambassador to Italy Dr Nasser Al Balushi.
