Saudi's General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has issued new guidelines for all airlines, including banning the travel of unvaccinated citizens.
The circular has been issued for both public and private airlines operating from the kingdom’s airports, SPA revealed.
It stipulates that airlines can carry citizens on international flights, provided they have received all doses any one of the Covid-19 vaccines approved in the kingdom.
Passengers under the age of 12 are exempted from this move, although they are required to present an insurance document approved by the Saudi Central Bank that covers the risks of Covid-19 infection outside the kingdom.
Additionally, citizens who recovered from the virus less than six months ago as well as those who have recovered from the disease over six months ago and have received a single dose of one of the approved vaccines can travel abroad.
The new procedures will come into effect on August 9.
