KAZAN: The stage is set for the European Open mixed martial arts championship which begins in Kazan, Russia today.
Bahrain’s national team has arrived in Kazan.
The delegation is led by Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation president Mohammed Ali Qambar, and comprises federation secretary general Fawaz Saleh Shamsan, a technical and medical team, as well as 16 players participating in different weight categories.
They are: Men: Mohammed Shekhov (weight 52.2kg), Mohammed Al Ma’er (56.7kg), Ali Yaacoub (56.8kg), Abdullah Mubarak (61.2kg), Korban Idrisov (65.8kg), Ramadan Gitnov (77.1kg), Murad Gozinov (77.1kg) Sultan Umarov (83.9), Mohammad Zahid Mamedov (93kg) and Rasul Mamedov (120.2kg).
Women General: Isa Bertolso (52.2kg), Petriz Deniz (56.7kg) and Sabrina de Sousa (65.8kg)
Youth Category: Shamil Ali Khanov (56.7kg), Murad Ibrahimov (61.2kg) and Ghaziev (93kg).
The first day of competitions will see just the senior men’s welterweight division stretching into rounds of 32, with two bouts scheduled as follows:
Patryk Semeniuk (Poland) vs Meirkhan Shapolatov (Kazakhstan); Samur Magamedkhanov (Russia) vs Jovidon Mahmudov (Tajikistan).
The opening ceremony and matches will be live streamed on immaf.tv from the revised start time of 2pm local time, with a bonus European Championships preview programme.
Full days of MMA action will begin tomorrow, commencing at 11am local time with an estimated daily runtime of six hours.
