BIG-HEARTED members of a major retail group in the kingdom, with the support of its customers, have helped boost the coffers of a charity setting out to make sure the wishes of deserving youngsters come true.
More than BD2,000 has been donated to the Child’s Wish Society in support of orphans, needy children and those with chronic diseases by Al Rashid Group (ARG), a division of the Landmark Group in the kingdom.
The special partnership witnessed all of ARG’s home-grown brands participate in a donation drive in store and online, the proceeds of which were allocated towards the education and procurement of essential supplies.
“We partnered with Child Wish Society in Bahrain to support children who need special care,” said Landmark Group territory head Samir Misra. “In alignment with the group’s mission, we are truly invested in ensuring that we are able to provide for as many children as possible.
“Our partnership with Child Wish Society is a step towards supporting the worthwhile objective of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 to ensure that every Bahraini has the means to live a secure and fulfilled life and is able to reach his or her full potential.
“In keeping with the visionary leadership’s goals, we believe that every individual can make a worthwhile contribution to society when presented with the opportunity to do so.
“We are delighted that with our discerning patrons we are able to play our part and provide essential relief to children across this nation.”
Shoppers were able to make donations, starting from as little as 100 fils, as part of their contribution towards the initiative. It totalled up to BD2,041.350.
“We thank ARG for partnering with us in supporting children dealing with illnesses and those in need,” said society chairperson Manal Al Awadhi, who added that the organisers were delighted to receive the donation.
“We will utilise this donation in line with our guiding philosophy to shape a cohesive society and instil a culture of generosity, giving and social responsibility through financial and moral support for children.
“Previously, the society has fulfilled the basic wishes of many orphans and needy children and those with chronic diseases through our Ramadan, Eid, and Back-to-School campaigns.
“So, we believe this partnership will help provide sustenance and instil happiness among vulnerable communities in the country,” she added.
As a home-grown merchandiser whose brands are household names in the region, ARG has been led by its mission to add value and support the well-being of the communities it serves.
The leading Middle East retailer’s popular brands include Mothercare, Centrepoint, Splash, ShoeMart, Lifestyle, Max, Shoexpress, Home Centre, Home Box, Steve Madden and Caprisa.
Landmark Group has partnered with various humanitarian organisations across the region to roll out GCC-wide fund-raising initiatives as part of the group’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) objectives to support the least privileged segments of society.
As part of its ongoing CSR activations, the group also led several private sector Covid-19 relief efforts across the GCC region during the peak of the pandemic.
