A beautiful bouquet of flowers arrived at the GDN offices in East Riffa courtesy of the Shura Council to mark the newspaper’s 44th birthday today.
And an equally-impressive arrangement came from Parliament with the compliments of Parliament Speaker Fouzia Zainal.
They were received by GDN Media’s managing editor Stanley Szecowka and chief reporter Mohammed ِAl A’ali, who covers Parliament and Shura Council proceedings for the print edition, GDNonline and our social media platforms.
The first issue rolled off the press on March 21, 1978, as the GDN became the first daily English-language newspaper in the country.
“The GDN is a pioneering publication that has over the years showcased news in the most professional, transparent and informative manner,” said Shura Council chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh.
“We hope that the publication continues its progression and development as a major news anchor in the country.”
Ms Zainal also wished the publication a ‘happy birthday’ adding: “We wish you all the best as you continue to serve the nation.”
