TRAVEL guidelines for international passengers have changed in response to the global spread of the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus.
India has revised its guidelines for international arrivals, making a seven-day home quarantine mandatory, effective from Tuesday.
A PCR test will also be required on the eighth day from all passengers.
In addition, a few passengers from each flight – specifically two per cent of travellers – will undergo random testing at the airport.
These passengers will also be required to quarantine and undergo testing on the eighth day. All passengers will still be required to upload a negative PCR test result before boarding a flight to India.
Meanwhile, fully vaccinated travellers to the UK are no longer required to take a test two days before travelling to the country.
On arrival, they will be required to take a PCR test but self-isolation, while they await the results of the test, is no longer necessary.
On the second day after their arrival, they are required to take a rapid lateral flow test.
Unvaccinated travellers to the UK will have to take a pre-departure test, PCR tests on day two and day eight, and self-isolate for 10 days.
