Pulsar, owned by KHK Racing, won HRH the Crown Prince’s Cup as the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) witnessed exciting races at its racetrack yesterday.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, was received at the venue by REHC chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and a number of senior officials.
Trained by Allen Smith and ridden by Rosie Jessop, Pulsar fought off stiff competition from Al Adiyat Racing’s Alejandro and Sabreena of Victorious to emerge winner in the sixth race of the day, for imported class 1 horses. It covered a distance of 2,000 metres.
The fifth race, for HRH the Crown Prince’s Cup for imported horses (2,000m), was won by Medal Winner of Al Mohamediya Racing. The winner was trained by Hussain Aldailami and ridden by Jason Watson.
The finish was dominated by local trainers with Tawaareq, Rayounpour and Mars Landing chasing Medal Winner home.
Kuheilan Umm Zorayr 1797 of KHK Racing won the opening race of the day for HRH the Crown Prince’s Cup for Arabian horses (WAHO, 1,400m). It was followed by KHK Racing’s Obeyan 1777 in second place while Kuheilan Afas 1708 of Victorious finished third.
Meanwhile, Magical Wish of MKAR Racing held on to win the final race on the card, The Stewards Cup, under a strong ride from John Egan. JS Moore trained the winner for the 1,600m race for imported horses.
Prince Elzaam finished second while Nebo was third.
Epic, owned by Abdulla Fawzi Nass, won the fourth race to claim the Bahrain Derby Cup for locally-bred horses.
Manama Girl of Ramadhan Stable raced to victory in the third race for Bahrain Oaks Cup, sponsored by Al Muzdaher Stud. The 1,800 metre race was held for locally-bred horses.
The REHC High Committee Cup for imported horses was clinched by Al Mohamediya Racing’s Mobaadel, the winner of the second race of the day. The race covered a distance of 1,200m.
HRH Prince Salman presented HRH the Crown Prince’s Cup for Imported Horses to Shaikh Sultan El Dine bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and HRH the Crown Prince’s Cup for locally-bred horses to Fawzi Nass.
Shaikh Isa presented HRH the Crown Prince’s Cup for Arabian Horses to Abdulla Fawzi Nass.
Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation president Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa presented the Bahrain Oaks Cup to Jalal Ebrahim Ramadhan.
Meanwhile, REHC executive director Shaikh Salman bin Rashid Al Khalifa presented the REHC High Committee Cup to Shaikh Sultan El Dine bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Bahrain Derby Cup to Abdulla Fawzi Nass, and the Stewards Cup to Mohammed Khalid Abdulrahim.
