A CONCERT featuring five top artists from the Agha Khan Master Musicians will be held tonight at the Cultural Hall.
They are set to take the audience on a musical journey inspired by their own deep roots in the cultures of the Middle East and Mediterranean basin, South Asia, Central Asia and China.
Each of these exceptional artists achieved mastery in a rigorous musical tradition defined by canonical styles, repertoires, pedagogy and performance techniques.
The event, at 8pm, is being held in partnership with the Geneva-based Aga Khan Music Programme and is open for those aged eight and above.
It is part of the 16th edition of the Spring of Culture Festival, which continues until the end of the month. The festival is run under the umbrella of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities and the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research.
The Agha Khan group held music workshops for students over the week. Youngsters listened to performances by master musicians from Syria, Tunisia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan playing the viola d’amore, soprano saxophone, qanun, dutar, and frame drums.
